Gantt Chart

[To Make to Stock Planning] [To Manufacturing] [To Work Order Processing]

Usage

Use this window to get a graphical view of the data used in the schedule over time.

This window is comprised of the Gantt Overview pane at the top and the Gantt Detail pane at the bottom. The Gantt Detail pane contains the Detail Property Pane.

To display data in the Gantt Overview pane, drag one or more objects into the list to the left of the chart (the object table area). The selected objects appear on the Gantt chart relative to a time scale.

Once an item is plotted on the Gantt chart, select it, right-click and then click Expand to plot its related objects. To remove these related objects from the chart, click the parent item and choose Collapse from the right mouse button menu. To plot an item and its related objects at the same time, hold down the Shift key while dragging the item into the Gantt chart list.

You can draw a rectangle on the Gantt chart to select certain objects within a certain time span. The upper and lower bounds of the rectangle define the objects selected, and the left and right bounds define the time span. To draw the rectangle, hold down the Ctrl key, and drag the pointer. Release the left mouse button once the rectangle is sized correctly. Click inside the rectangle and drag to move it, or click outside the rectangle to remove it.

This window contains:

In the left pane:

Clear All: Click this button to remove all selected objects from the Gantt chart.

Drag & Drop Remove from List: Select one or more objects and click this button or drag the selected object(s) to this button to remove them from the list of objects to the left of the Gantt chart.

Drag & Drop Auto Timescale: Select one or more objects and click this button or drag the selected object(s) to this button to zoom the time scale in the Gantt chart to the time period in which these objects appear. The Gantt chart is scaled to the earliest start and latest end time of all the selected objects. Alternatively, draw a rectangle in the Gantt chart while pressing Ctrl and then drag the rectangle to this button to scale the Gantt chart to the time defined by the rectangle.

New: Select one or more objects and click this button or drag the selected object(s) to this button to create a new Gantt chart consisting only of these objects. The Gantt chart is scaled to the earliest start and latest end time of all the selected objects. Alternatively, draw a rectangle in the Gantt chart while pressing Ctrl and then drag the rectangle to this button to create a Gantt chart scaled to the time defined by the rectangle.

List of Objects: The list of objects displayed in the Gantt chart. You can drag objects from the Data Tree into this list. To see detailed information about a selected object, hold down the Shift key, and move the pointer over the object. To customize the information that is displayed, choose the Ext Info Setting option from the right mouse button menu, and select the appropriate check boxes.

In the right pane:

Begin Date: The beginning date of the time schedule. This field appears above the left edge of the time scale. Use the scroll arrows to contract or expand the time schedule while anchoring it from the right side.

Zoom Out: Click this button to contract the time schedule from both the left and the right sides.

Zoom In: Click this button to expand the time schedule to both the left and the right sides.

End Date: The ending date of the time schedule. This field appears above the right edge of the time scale. Use the scroll arrows to contract or expand the time schedule while anchoring it from the left side.

Timescale: This shows the dates and times for the time schedule. You can change the time schedule by clicking on the date fields or by dragging a point on the timescale to the right or left. You can also zoom into the timescale by clicking either the left or right mouse button on the timescale. Clicking the left mouse button reduces the time span from the left side, while clicking the right mouse button reduces the time span from the right side.

Time Schedule: The main display area of the Gantt chart. All selected objects appear in this area at the appropriate points in the time scale. Time in the past is shown with a light gray background. Time in the present or future is shown by default with a white background. Use the right mouse button to drag operations to different times or resources within a work center when included for display in the Gantt chart. Use the left mouse button to drag operations before or after other shop orders. This reschedules them relative to one another.
