Resource Capacity Calculation

[About Resources] [To Project Management]

Usage

Use this window to calculate the consumption of resources for a given project or projects. The projects involved should have resources connected to one or to several activities. It is only these activities that will be included in the calculation.

Declare a new calculation identifier and include the project(s) for which you want to calculate. Choose to use either early dates or late dates in the calculation. Early dates are mandatory for an activity and late dates are not mandatory. In order to calculate on late dates, you must make sure that the late dates are present in all activity resources. You can choose to perform accumulation of the use of resources on either a weekly or a monthly basis. The result will specify how many hours you have available (available hours), how many hours of work are allocated (load hours), and the overload hours estimated for each resource per period. The overload is defined as the difference between load hours and available hours if the load is greater than available hours; otherwise it is zero (0).

Use the menu option Process Projects to calculate the allocation of resources for the given project(s). If you recalculate a calculation ID, the old results will be overwritten. You will get a question before the recalculation is performed.

Use the menu option Delete Calculation to remove a calculation.

After a successful calculation, you will see that Resource Summary and Resource Detail tabs have been filled with data. The Date Generated field also has been updated to the current date (system date). The Resource Summary tab contains information on a weekly/monthly basis and the Resource Detail tab contains information on a daily basis.

For the description of each tab in the window, follow the appropriate link: Projects, Resource Summary and Resource Detail.
